Warnings

There are certain warnings and precautions that should be considered when using Opticrom:

  1. Allergy: If you are allergic to sodium cromoglicate or any other ingredients in Opticrom, you should not use this medication.

  2. Contact Lenses: Opticrom eye drops may contain preservatives that can be absorbed by soft contact lenses and cause eye irritation. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using the eye drops and wait for at least 15 minutes before reinserting the lenses.

  3. Eye Infections or Injuries: Do not use Opticrom eye drops if you have any eye infections or eye injuries unless directed by your healthcare professional.

  4. Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using Opticrom.

  5. Children and Infants: The use of Opticrom eye drops in children and infants should be done under the guidance of a healthcare professional, as the dosing may differ based on age and condition.

  6. Driving and Operating Machinery: Opticrom eye drops are not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. However, if you experience blurred vision or other visual disturbances after using the eye drops, avoid these activities until your vision returns to normal.

  7. Systemic Allergic Reactions: Although uncommon, some individuals may experience a systemic allergic reaction to sodium cromoglicate. If you experience any signs of a severe allergic reaction, such as difficulty breathing, hives, swelling of the face or throat, seek immediate medical attention.

Directions

Adults (including the elderly) and Children over 6 years
One or two drops, administered into each eye four-times daily.

Children under 6 years
This medicine should not be used in children under 6 years of age.

If your eyes are no better after 2 days of using the eye drops, see your doctor or pharmacist.
It is best to use your eye drops regularly every day while high pollen levels are expected, to keep your eye condition controlled. If you find you need to use them continuously for more than 14 days, check with your pharmacist or doctor before continuing.

  1. Wash Your Hands: Before using the eye drops, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water to avoid any potential contamination.
  2. Shake the Bottle: If the product label instructs you to do so, gently shake the bottle of Opticrom eye drops before use.

  3. Tilt Your Head Back: Tilt your head backward while sitting or lying down, whichever is most comfortable for you.

  4. Pull Down Your Lower Eyelid: Using one hand, gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket between your eye and the eyelid. This will be where the eye drops will be instilled.

  5. Instill the Eye Drops: Hold the dropper tip of the bottle close to your eye, but avoid touching the eye or eyelid with the dropper. Squeeze the prescribed number of drops into the pocket formed by your lower eyelid. Be careful not to blink or squeeze your eyelids tightly shut.

  6. Close Your Eye: After instilling the eye drops, close your eye gently and press a finger against the inner corner of the eye (near the nose). This helps prevent the eye drops from draining into your tear duct and ensures that the medication remains in your eye.

  7. Wait Between Drops: If you need to use more than one drop per eye or need to use other eye medications, wait at least 5 minutes between each set of eye drops.

  8. Replace the Cap: After using the eye drops, immediately replace the cap on the bottle and tighten it securely to prevent contamination.

  9. Contact Lens Use: If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using Opticrom eye drops. Wait for at least 15 minutes after using the eye drops before reinserting your contact lenses.

  10. Wash Hands Again: After administering the eye drops, wash your hands once more to remove any residual medication.
