Smears are required every 3 years for women 25-49 years and every 5 years from 50-64 years.

- Diabetes or migraine
- High blood pressure, heart attack, angina, abnormal heart rhythm, impaired heart function
- Breast, ovarian, cervical, or uterine cancer.or family or genetic risk
- HIV or liver disease
- Blood clot in leg or lungs
- Epilepsy.
- Systemic lupus erythematosus or porphyria
- Endometriosis.
- No contraceptive pill is 100% effective at preventing pregnancy.
- There is a very low risk of serious side effects, such as blood clots and cervical cancer and breast cancer.
- The contraceptive pill offers no protection against sexually transmitted infections.
- You should take one tablet daily at the same time each day.
- If you miss a tablet or take it late, you should read the Patient Information Leaflet in your pack to check if you still have contraceptive cover.
- Your pill may not work if you are sick or have severe diarrhoea. Continue taking your pill and use a condom for seven days.
