Norethisterone is associated with an increased risk of blood clots in the veins of the leg, lungs, or other parts of the body
- You are over 35 and you smoke
- You are overweight (BMI >28kg/m2)
- You have family history of DVT or PE
- You have a history of repeated miscarriage
- Breast cancer, Genital cancer or any Active cancer
- Active or history of Liver tumours
- History of jaundice during pregnancy
- History of severe itching or a severe blistering rashduring pregnancy
- Porphyria (A rare metabolic disorder that occur when your body is unable to produce enough of a substance called haem)
- History of stroke, heart attack (Myocardial Infarction), angina (Chest pain) or any other heart problems
- Migraines/Migraines with aura
- High Blood pressure
- History of depression
- Epilepsy
- Asthma
- Anti-epileptics (including Carbamazepine, Eslicarbazepine, Fosphenytoin, Oxcarbazepine, Perampanel, Phenobarbital, Phenytoin, Primidone, Rufinamide and Topiramate)
- Antivirals/HIV medication (including Atazanavir, Efavirenz and Nevirapine)
- Ciclosporin
- St John’s wort
