- Coloured or smelly discharge, or sores on the skin around your vagina.
- Discharge from the penis.
- High temperature (fever) of, or above, 38°C (101.4°F), shivering, nausea or headache.
- Open sores, blisters, or ulcers on the skin.
- Liver or kidney problems.
- HIV.
- Heart disease including heart rhythm problems.
- Adrenal insufficiency.
- Abnormal or irregular vaginal bleeding or a blood stained discharge.
- Vulval or vaginal sores, ulcers or blisters.
- Acute porphyria.
- Diabetes.
- Post-menopause.
- Autoimmune diseases (such as gout, rheumatoid arthritis, SLE, Addison’s disease…).
- Cancer.
- Anticoagulants (clopidogrel, warfarin…).
- Statins (atorvastatin, simvastatin…).
- Antiepileptic drugs - carbamazepine, phenytonin.
- SSRI antidepressants (citalopram, sertraline…).
- Blood pressure medication - dihydropyridines and verapamil.
- Amiodarone.
- Ciclosporin.
- HIV medication (efavirenz…).
- Lithium.
- Terfenadine.
- Steroids such as prednisolone.
- Treatment may reduce the effectiveness of rubber contraceptives, such as condoms or diaphragms. Consequently, you should use alternative precautions for at least five days after using this product.
- You are advised not to use tampons, intravaginal douches, spermicides or other vaginal products during the course of treatment.
- You are advised the treatment would be less effective if you are on your period.
- Washing the infected area in the morning and evening with plain, warm water. It is important that you dry thoroughly
- Wiping backwards (away from the vagina) after visiting the toilet
- Not using medicated and perfumed bath additives
- Not wearing tight clothing
- Recent use of antibiotics
- Pregnancy
- Use of oral contraceptives
- Wearing tight clothing
- Over-use of hot baths and bath additives.
