Elocon Cream is a potent topical corticosteroid containing mometasone, used to relieve inflammation, itching, and redness associated with various skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and contact dermatitis. The cream formulation is suitable for moist or weeping areas of the skin, providing effective relief during flare-ups. It is not a cure but helps manage symptoms.
Mometasone, the active ingredient in Elocon, reduces inflammation by suppressing the immune response in the affected skin area. By applying a thin layer to the inflamed skin, the cream alleviates symptoms such as redness, itching, and swelling. It is usually applied once a day.
Follow guidance from your healthcare provider and read the instructions before using Elocon.
The active ingredient in Elocon is mometasone.

If you are concerned about the side effects consult your GP before using Elocon Cream.
1. How long can I use Elocon Cream?
It is recommended to use Elocon for short periods, typically not more than 5 days for children or 7 days for adults, unless otherwise directed by a healthcare professional. Prolonged use increases the risk of side effects.
2. Is Elocon Cream suitable for children?
Elocon is generally not suitable for children, but in certain cases, a short course of up to two weeks may be prescribed by a specialist for children.
3. Can I use Elocon on my face?
It is not advisable to use Elocon on the face unless directed by a healthcare professional, as facial skin is more sensitive to the side effects of topical steroids.
4. How much cream should I apply?
Use a small amount, measured by fingertip units (FTUs). One FTU is the amount squeezed from the tip to the first crease of an adult’s finger and is sufficient to cover an area twice the size of an adult's hand.
5. Can Elocon cause side effects?
Common side effects include burning or stinging upon application. Prolonged use may cause thinning of the skin, stretch marks, or increased hair growth at the application site. Use sparingly and follow your doctor’s guidance to minimize these risks.
