Description

This emergency contraceptive pill contains 1.5 mg of levonorgestrel, a synthetic progestogen that prevents pregnancy primarily by inhibiting ovulation and possibly by preventing fertilisation or implantation. It is most effective when taken as soon as possible after unprotected sex, ideally within 12 hours, and no later than 72 hours (3 days). The tablet is suitable for women of childbearing age, including adolescents, and is available without a prescription in the UK.

Warnings

Do not use if you:

  • Are allergic to levonorgestrel or any other ingredients in the tablet.
  • Are already pregnant.

Directions

How to use:

  • Take one tablet orally with water as soon as possible after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure.

Aftercare:

  • If vomiting occurs within 3 hours of taking the tablet, consult a healthcare professional as another dose may be required.
