What Is Eumovate Cream?

Eumovate eczema and dermatitis cream is a moderate-strength steroid cream that relieves inflammation caused by eczema, psoriasis, and insect bites. What is Eumovate?

Eumovate Cream is a topical medication containing clobetasone butyrate 0.05%, a mild to moderately potent corticosteroid. It is used to relieve symptoms of inflammatory skin conditions like eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis. These conditions often result in red, swollen, and itchy patches on the skin, causing discomfort.

How Does Eumovate Cream Work?

Skin becomes inflamed when the body releases inflammatory chemicals in response to an allergen or irritation. These chemicals make blood vessels widen, causing the skin or scalp to swell. Clobetasone butyrate in Eumovate reduces inflammation by suppressing the body’s overactive immune response in the affected area. This action decreases symptoms like redness, swelling, itching, and discomfort, helping the skin return to its normal state. By reducing the skin's inflammatory response, Eumovate provides relief during flare-ups, aiding the skin's healing process while preventing further irritation.

Ingredients

The active ingredient in Eumovate is clobetasone butyrate, each 1 gram contains 0.5mg (0.05%w/w). 

Eumovate cream inactive ingredients are chlorocresol, cetostearyl alcohol, beeswax substitute 6621, citric acid monohydrate.

Side Effects

Side effects when using the cream are very minimal. If you experience any, they may include:

  • Allergic reactions like burning, irritation, rash, redness and itchy skin
  • Increased hair growth
  • Changes in skin color or thinning of the skin and bones
  • Weight gain
  • Eye conditions - cataract or glaucoma
  • High blood pressure

If severe irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult your doctor.
