Nystan belongs to a class of drugs called antifungals, which work by preventing the growth of fungus. Nystan is available as a prescription medication and can be purchased over-the-counter. How Does Nystan Oral Suspension Work? Nystan oral suspension is an antifungal medication that is used to treat infections caused by certain types of fungi. The active ingredient in Nystan oral suspension is nystatin, which works by inhibiting the growth of the fungi. It does this by interfering with the production of a substance called ergosterol, which is a major component of fungal cell membranes. Do not stop taking your medication without first talking to your doctor. You must tell your doctor about all the medication you are taking before using Nystan. You must inform your doctor about your pregnancy and breastfeeding status before using Nystan. If you have a liver, kidney or heart problem, you must first discuss it with your doctor before using Nystan? Nystan Oral Suspension should be used with caution in people who are allergic to nystatin or other ingredients in the suspension. People with liver disease or kidney disease may also need to use Nystan Oral Suspension with caution.
It is important to follow the directions given by your doctor or read the information provided on the package when using this medication. Shake the bottle well before each use. Nystan Oral Suspension is recommended for use after food. The recommended dose of Nystan Oral Suspension for adults over 18 years of age is 1ml dose four times daily. Swill the solution around your mouth and throat slowly before swallowing a measured dose of liquid with the measuring dropper. If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember but do not take two doses at once. You should continue taking the medication four times a day for 48 hours after your infection has cleared to prevent being reinfected.
