Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces the amount of acid produced by the stomach. It is used to treat acid reflux, heartburn, stomach ulcers, and other conditions where reducing stomach acid is beneficial. The gastro-resistant (GR) formulation ensures the medication is released in the intestines, protecting it from being broken down by stomach acid. It relieves symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing, and persistent cough.

Description

What is Rabeprazole GR 10mg?

Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces the amount of acid produced by the stomach. It is used to treat acid reflux, heartburn, stomach ulcers, and other conditions where reducing stomach acid is beneficial. The gastro-resistant (GR) formulation ensures the medication is released in the intestines, protecting it from being broken down by stomach acid.

How Does Rabeprazole Work?

The stomach naturally produces acid to enable the body to digest food and kill unwanted germs and bacteria. Although it is helpful, the acid can be irritant, causing the body to produce some mucous barrier that protects the lining of the stomach from corrosion. When produced in large, unregulated amounts, acids can break down the barrier, reach the stomach, and cause ulcers and inflammation. The acid can also escape to other parts of the body such as the oesophagus, resulting in acid reflux or heartburn. Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that regulates the amount of stomach acid produced in the stomach, thus protecting the stomach lining from corrosion, and ultimately preventing ulcers and acid reflux.
