What Are Vagifem Vaginal Tablets?

Vagifem is a prescription medication used to treat vaginal dryness and other menopausal symptoms in women. It comes in the form of a vaginal insert that is inserted into the vagina once daily. Vagifem works by replenishing the body's natural supply of estrogen, which helps to reduce vaginal dryness. It also can help to improve sexual satisfaction and reduce urinary symptoms associated with menopause. It is also used to treat abnormal changes such as burning sensation or itchiness around the vagina.

How Do Vagifem Vaginal Tablets Work?

Estrogen is a hormone associated with female development during puberty and the reproductive cycle. It plays a significant role in the body from emotional wellbeing to bone health. There are a variety of reasons that can cause estrogen levels to change in women of all ages, however, both a decline or dominance of estrogen in the body can lead to a variety of health concerns and symptoms. For instance, high levels may cause weight gain, severe premenstrual syndrome or low mood in females, while a decline can cause changes in the vagina such as dryness, itchiness or pain during intercourse. Vagifem is a form of hormone replacement therapy that works by releasing oestradiol hormone, to balances estrogen levels in the vagina.
