Let Us Help with Ear Wax Buildup

Ear wax builds up over time. It forms in the outer layer of the ear canal. It appears in different colours such as brown, orange, red, yellowish, or grey in the form of a waxy substance. It helps us to protect the canal against bacteria, fungi and water and It assists in cleaning and lubrication.

Problems Cause by Earwax Build-up

In general, ears have the ability to self-clean. However, a lot of people use cotton buds to ‘clean’ the canal of excess wax. This generally pushes the wax deeper inside and causes blockages and further issues (such as infection). This could also lead to impacted earwax which could affect your hearing.

How to Clean Your Ears Safely

Different methods are available to help with earwax problems. We would still recommend you speak to a member of our staff to get more information. Professionals can offer a much safer and effective way to solve your earwax problem.

Professional ear cleaning with ear syringing:

Ear syringing is known as ear irrigation, this technique is performed by squirting a small amount of sterile water into the ear, to discard the wax. This process is effective and safe without risking damage to the ear.

How Our Ear Syringing Service Works

  • Our healthcare professional will examine your ear canal, confirm that you have an excessive amount of wax building up that needs to be removed.
  • You will be requested to purchase an oil product that softens ear wax, which should take a couple days to soften the wax. You may also use olive oil, mineral oil or hydrogen peroxide to soften the wax. We will rebook you after the duration of a week, the next step.
  • At your return appointment, our healthcare professional will use a syringe-like tool called Propulse Ear Irrigation Kit to spray sterilized water into your ear, which will help to flush out the earwax.

The full ear irrigation process will only take around 20 minutes to complete. During the procedure, you may feel a bit strange. However, it is a safe and effective process. If you have any concerns during the procedure, please feel free to let the our staff know.

Ear syringing Risks

Well-developed ear syringing is safe and effective. However, with most medical procedures, there are risks. These include risk of ear infection (the most common), a perforated eardrum, and temporary deafness.
