What is XifaXanta 200mg Tablet? Xifaxanta is a medication that is used to treat traveller’s diarrhoea, a bacterial infection that is caused by Escherichia Coli (E.coli). it can also be used to fight other bacterial infections located in the intestines. How Does Xifaxanta work? Traveller’s diarrhoea is a common health problem that is experienced during travel, especially to foreign countries. It spreads mainly through food and water, but it can also be spread by coming into contact with an infected person. Xifaxanta is a special medication that only treats infections located in the intestinal tract. Unlike other medications, Xifaxanta travels inside the body through the stomach and into the intestines without being absorbed into the bloodstream. Once it gets to the intestines, Xifaxanta works by altering the cellular structure of the bacteria, reducing their ability to produce essential enzymes that are suitable for their growth. As a result, the bacteria become deficient in the necessary energy and proteins, which limits their ability to reproduce or survive. Interference with their cellular structure makes the bacteria vulnerable to attacks from the white blood cells. What Does Xifaxanta Treat? Intestinal infections Stomach infection Prevention or treatment of traveller’s diarrhoea Irritable colon Irritable bowel syndrome
