What is Esomeprazole GR 20mg?
Esomeprazole GR 20mg is a gastro-resistant tablet used to treat acid-related stomach and esophagus problems such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), stomach ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It belongs to a class of drugs called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). The gastro-resistant (GR) formulation ensures that the medication reaches the intestines before dissolving, protecting it from stomach acid and aiding in proper absorption.
How Does it Work?
Esomeprazole works by specifically targeting and blocking the proton pumps in the stomach lining, which are responsible for acid production. By inhibiting these pumps, it reduces the production of stomach acid, allowing damaged tissue in the stomach and esophagus to heal. It also helps in preventing new ulcers from forming, providing effective relief from symptoms like heartburn, acid regurgitation, and difficulty swallowing. Directions

- If you are taking the granules for oral suspension, you will need to mix them with water before use
Ingredients
Each Esomeprazole capsule contains 20 mg or 40 mg of Esomeprazole.
It includes the inactive ingredients crospovidone, hydroxypropyl cellulose, mannitol, methacrylic acid copolymer type C, sucrose, sugar spheres, talc.
Side Effects
Esomeprazole may cause side effects to some people. They include:

- Constipation
- Dry mouth
- Drowsiness
Seek medical attention immediately if you have watery or bloody diarrhoea. It could mean reinfection. Esomeprazole may cause new or worsening lupus symptoms.
